  • What’s your approach of Threading eyebrows?
Before I start Threading on a client, I always ask my client what they are looking to get done with their eyebrow shape. I will only take out the hair that my client wishes. I feel everybody has a different approach for their own eyebrow shape.
  • How long does threading take and how often should one do it?
A simple eyebrow threading session can take 10-15 minutes. The upper lip takes about 5 minutes, and a full face thread takes about 20 minutes. Normal regrowth happens in 2 weeks.
  • How often I should get my Threading done?
It depends on your hair growth but usually after 2-3 weeks.
  • What are the benefits of threading vs. waxing?
Threading can target individual hair, even fine hair, for a precise, sharp look. Threading can be done as soon hair grows just above the skin, whereas waxing requires the hair be at least 1/4" long before it can be removed again. Unlike waxing, threading doesn’t remove a layer of skin during the hair removal process.
  • Is it okay to get threaded if you have sensitive skin?
Yes. However, depending on your sensitivity level, you may experience redness or minor bumps at the site, but it should subside in 10-15 minutes. In rare cases, the area may remain red for an hour or two. Depending on sensitivity of clients skin, some would use aloe vera gel to calm the skin, some clients prefer witch hazel, rubbing alcohol, tea tree gel or derma cream. Refrain from using face products that has fragrances for a few hours after threading until the area feels less sensitive.
  • Can I specify how I want my brows shaped?
Yes! Before you begin, Please let your esthetician know how you want your brows shaped and how thick or thin you’d like them. Before leaving the chair, take your time to check your brows to be sure you are happy with the results. We are here to give your perfect shape on your eyebrows.
  • How to prepare before your appointment?
Check in with yourself before the appointment to make sure you’re ready. You should: Make sure your hair is at least ¼-inch long — about the size of a grain of rice. If it’s longer than ½ inch, you may want to trim it slightly, so the wax is able to grip better. Gently exfoliate with a buffing mitt or wash cloth a couple of days before your appointment to help prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid tanning for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as this can cause the skin to be more sensitive. Cut down on alcohol and caffeine the day of your appointment. Both can cause your pores to tighten and make waxing more painful. Wear breathable, cotton underwear or loose bottoms to your appointment for maximum comfort. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever about 30 minutes before your appointment to help lessen pain.
  • How often should I get a bikini wax?
Depending on how long it takes for your hair to grow to at least 1/4” long (or until it lays flat against your skin), but the average is 3 to 4 weeks.
  • What type of wax do you use? Is it fresh or same pot?
At Brows and Basics we give highest priority for beauty hygiene. We never Double Dip. All purpose honey wax that is gentle for all kind of skin.
  • I shave my bikini area, but I want to try waxing. How long should I wait before getting my first wax?
Wait at least two weeks for your hair to grow back before getting waxed. Once your hair is at least 1/4” long, or it lays flat against your skin, you’re ready for your first wax!
  • Can I get a bikini wax while I have my period?
We don’t recommend any type of bikini or brazilian waxing while you have your period for both sanitary and comfort reasons (the skin is more sensitive during menstruation).
